Holiday work

You should have all finished the video installation piece by the end of term. However, your blog should reflect the development of this work, research into artists/filmmakers and there should be clear links with your proposal and other pieces created for this unit.

You have the holidays to work on improving your blogs.

Also, think about the design of your blogs and how that could now be changed to reflect your piece.

video installation - research task half term CF

Well done for those of you who have started your blogs, some interesting research already - Daisy and Billy, have a look at the others to see the kind of posts that you should be putting up and make sure that there is progress by our next lesson after half term.

In addition to your own focused research related to your idea, I would also like you to look at the following video artists and post a response / images / links on your blog

Bill Viola
Bill Viola explaining one of his installations - fascinating
Bill Viola - anthem
If you were really interested in Viola, you could watch this interview with him

Graham Nicholls

Further video artists can be found from the following wikipedia page.

Video installation

Your next task is to plan out a piece of video work that is developed from your traditional art work. This could be either:

  • short film
  • Animation
  • A conceptual piece mixing media
  • Footage to be projected onto a piece of work

There are no rules in terms of length or format.

You should now research artists that have used video installation and record your findings along with your initial ideas on your blog.

Digital media - Photoshop

By the end of term 1, you should have evidence in your development work of significant use of Adobe Photoshop. Use your blog to document the stages of your work, noting techniques used and the thinking behind your work.

This should be a series of posts on your blog.
